2. Let me know the last 2 venues you played in L.A. (if you have), when, where and your REAL draw (yes, all clubs and promoters communicate so lets be honest).
3. Contact me within a couple of weeks of sending your music and info.
Our Part:
We will book you at L.A.'s top venues on great nights.
I try to put together nights where, musically, the sound flows well so people stay all night and bands get new fans! As a promoter, the one thing I can do is help build your fan base which will take you to the next level. The club and I like nights when fans stay for more than one band. It makes for a fun, full night!
With a background in A&R, management and working at 3 major labels, I understand being on your side of the table regarding shows. I knew what it was like to book a show from the bands standpoint. Now I also know what it is like to be on the booker/club side. I can be fair, sensitive and realistic about what needs to be done for a very successful night for everyone involved.
I promote the shows via ads with the clubs, my HUGE email invite list, giveaways at the shows, adding a bit of fun to our nights (for example, filling the club with balloons for one show, contests), anything you can think of to make the night special, I am open. I work very hard on my shows and I expect bands to do the same.
If bands bring me a good draw, I PAY BANDS! Pay scale depends on venue and draw, this is all discussed BEFORE we book a show.
Your Part:
Play a great set!
Promote like mad... most promoting IS put on bands, just how it is in this town, you need to get out there, work it, draw for me, I will book you with bands who do the same so you all get new fans.
Since I book very popular L.A. venues generally just weekends, bands need to draw fans. If I know your act has a good draw in L.A., we can book a show.
If you don't have a draw I can confirm, advanced sales of tix might be necessary. I will never ever ever ask a band to pay me for a show...NO "PAY TO PLAY." I might ask you to ADVANCE SELL tickets to fans. The difference??? Advanced sales is what U2, Neil Young, Britney Spears, etc. do when they play....fans buy tix in advance and if enough tix are not sold, the show is cancelled. If my show is not going to be BIG, it will not happen, either. Neither me nor the clubs can afford this. Pay to Play means band buys tix. This I do not do, I need for bands to have ENOUGH fans who will actually buy the tix and come to the show. Again, I book bands/artists who ALL draw so you all are seen and heard by new people.
No shows to me are unimportant, I take every single show very seriously, and the artist must as well.
